The Perry Community School District will dedicate a memorial tree and bench June 2 to Ahmir Jolliff, the sixth grader killed Jan. 4, 2024, in the shooting at the Perry High School.
Ahmir Jolliff was a beloved member of the Perry community, and he left a lasting impact on those who knew him, the school district said in a statement released Tuesday. The dedication will serve as a tribute to his spirit, kindness and contributions to the school district and beyond.
“We are honoring Ahmir’s memory in a way that reflects the positive influence he had on so many,” said Perry Middle School Principal Ned Menke. “The tree and bench will stand as a reminder of his enduring presence in our hearts.”
Community members, students, faculty, family and friends are encouraged to attend the dedication event, which will include brief remarks honoring Ahmir’s memory and legacy.
