The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday for the Perry area.
Winds to 75 mph and hail to 1.5 inches in diameter are likely, the NWS said.
Along with Dallas County, the severe thunderstorm watch is in effect in Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Cass, Fremont, Guthrie, Hardin, Harrison, Madison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Story, Taylor and Union counties.
