Sharon Phillips, 80, of Perry passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at the Eden Acres Campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. A private burial will be held at the Violet Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Sharon Ruth Phillips was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Perry, Iowa, to Donald Spencer and Ruth Mildred (McCann) Phillips.
She was homeschooled by her very attentive mother.
Sharon lived in a Mosaic home in Des Moines prior to moving to Eden Acres in 2022. She worked and attended programs at Link Associates in Des Moines for 21 years until her retirement in 2019.
She was a volunteer at Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.
Sharon was an advocate for access for special needs and handicapped individuals. Her caregivers said she had a great sense of humor and good manners.
In death she rejoins her parents, Donald and Ruth; and a cousin, Neva Laborde.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her many cousins and several aunts in the central Iowa area, including Robert (Mary) Laborde, Larry (Pearl) Laborde, Ken (Karen) Laborde and Harry Laborde.
