Friends, fellowship and good food were the order of the evening Saturday as a crowd of nearly 100 participated in the annual soup dinner and pie auction held at Washington Township School.
A freewill offering was collected for the dinner, with auction and dinner proceeds all going to the foundation that helps to restore and renovate the school, located south of Perry on County Road P58 at the Minburn Road.
Auctioneer Tom Burkgren donated his talents for the evening. A total of 32 pies were offered for bid, along with cinnamon rolls and whole sheets of brownies. No item brought less than $50, with a beautiful lemon meringue pie bringing a winning bid of $155 and a gooseberry pie attracting a top bid of $135.
Organizers estimated an amount in excess of $2,000 was raised during the event. Thanks were extended to those attending and bidding and to those bakers who concocted the delicious treats.
