Faye Southward, Perry High School dance team advisor, has been selected for the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Association, according to a news release by the Perry Community School District.
“Her teams over the years have consisted of girls from a wide variety of backgrounds,” said Eagle Grove Dance Team Advisor Ann Sampson. “She has embraced each and every one of them, and she has given them all the opportunity to grow through their experiences on the dance team. It is because of her positive influence on all of these young ladies over the years that she is especially deserving of this award. She has a love of dance that she shares with her teams and everyone around her. ”
Southward was cited for her creativity, her resourcefulness, and for her fortitude.
The Perry High School Dance program provides students the opportunity to perform on a team and as individuals. A variety of dance routines are developed during the course of the year.

Known as the “Perry Pulse,” the squad annually participates in the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Contest.
Individual team member may try-out for the All-Iowa Honor Drill Team. Honorees perform at the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Girls State Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Local performances regularly include basketball half-time shows and the spring Perry High School Dance Showcase. The Dance Squad offers a youth clinic in conjunction with the showcase.
