Spirits were light among the many residents and guests at Thursday’s Fall Tour of Homes and Wine Walk at the Spring Valley campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes.
Eight Spring Valley residents hosted open houses in their rooms, and the wines were comfortably spaced upon the three floors of the facility, so visitors could walk and talk and sip and tour by turns.
Seven wines were served from the Cellar at White Oak, a winery in Cambridge, Iowa, and a generous selection of cheese and crackers helped complement the wines. Donna Emmert tickled the keys in the commons while the steady stream of visitors wended their ways from room to room.
“This is a great way to showcase the facility and the quality of life that residents enjoy here,” said Mollie Clark, director of marketing for the Perry Lutheran Homes. “The Cellar at White Oak has been a generous partner to work with for this event.”
Kelly Moore, assisted living coordinator at the Perry Lutheran Homes’ Spring Valley campus, noted that 23 of the facility’s 40 residents are in their 90s, a testament to the quality of assisted care offered there.
