April’s showers are paying off in May flowers thanks to Tom and Kay Stokely of Perry and other volunteers, who lead the annual beautification efforts along the downtown boulevard on Willis Avenue.
With help from private donors and the Perry Chamber of Commerce’s hotel-motel taxes, the boulevard planters will be filled with red, white and blue flowers in time for the Memorial Day celebrations Monday, May 29.
The flowers bring more color to the Downtown Cultural District, which is still awash in colorful light pole warmers as part of Saturday’s Fiber Art Fair.
