WOODWARD — Nothing can draw a crowd quite like a parade, as was evidenced Thursday in Woodward as hundreds lined the parade route for the annual W-G Homecoming Parade.

Hawk football teams from the youngest flag squads through the varsity rode in the entourage, along with the W-G band, varsity cheerleaders and volleyball teams of various levels. The younger Hawk cheerleaders decided, like last year, to hoof it, and clearly enjoyed waving to the crowd and throwing candy.

Also riding along were the members of the Homecoming Court: Queen candidates Kara Bodensteiner, Riley Jamison, Reagan Kaufman, Bree Lesch and Paige Mescher along with King candidates Brady Aunspach, Nate Devick, Bodie Harrison, Marcus MrConahay and Tanner Vermaas. Mikayla Saak, the 2015 Homecoming Queen, was also in the parade, as were 2015 Little Queen Felicity David and Cooper Lantz; King Nick Musich was unable to attend.

A coronation ceremony was held at the W-G gym at 7 p.m. with Lesch crowned queen and Vermaas king.

Homecoming, of course, includes a football game, and the Hawks will host Central Decatur Friday at 7 p.m.
