Are you interested in water quality and soil conservation?
Would you like to help guide local programs in the county and have the opportunity to influence state and national conservation programs?
Could you work with both rural and urban customers to resolve soil erosion and water quality concerns?
Is improving local awareness of natural resources important to you?
Do you have time to give back to your community?
If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be interested in serving as a commissioner on the Dallas County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) board.
SWCD commissioners are elected officials with no party ties. There are five commissioners on the board, and three of these seats will be on next month’s general election ballot. At this time, only one name is on the ballot. The other two will be elected by write-in votes.
If you are interested in serving on the board, then start a write-in campaign, and get your friends, neighbors, co-workers and family to vote for you. Commissioners serve four-yeat terms.
If you have any questions about the commissioner position, you can contact any of the current commissioners or the SWCD secretary located at the NRCS office in Adel at 515-993-3413 ext. 300.
Denise Forret is the secretary of the Dallas County SWCD.
