CARROLL — Entering Tuesday’s Raccoon River Conference tilt with visiting Perry, the Carroll girls were averaging just over 45 points per contest.
Whatever the Carroll players ate for lunch might become the standard pre-game fare for the rest of the season, for the Tiger offense suddenly exploded, putting 76 points on the board to swamp Perry, 76-34. The points were the most for a Carroll team since a 76-49 win at ADM Dec. 12, 2011.
Perry (2-14, 0-9) was out of sorts from the beginning, committing numerous first quarter turnovers as Carroll (3-11, 2-7) started red-hot and surged to a 22-7 lead.
The hosts sank nine 3-pointers in the game — six in the first half — while Perry drained seven. The Tigers were 7-of-12 at the foul line and the Jayettes 5-of-9.
The hosts opened a 42-14 halftime lead and led, 59-22, entering the final period, which was played with a continuous clock.
Ella Collison had 14 points and Taylor Mohr 13 for the hosts, with Taylor Woosley adding nine points. Eight points from Madi Lingle and seven points from both Liz Promes and Laura Sweeney helped guide the way to the win.
Perry received 12 points from Molly Lutmer and nine from Alyssa Kruger. Grace Stewart and Ainsley Marburger had five points apiece, with Gabby West adding two points and Hannah Peterson one.
Perry will host ADM Friday and Winterset Tuesday before traveling to Ballard Feb. 2.
