Molly Hoekstra allowed only two runners to reach base as top-rated Carlisle cruised to a 14-0 win over host Perry Monday.
The Wildcats (11-2, 5-0) were kept at bay at times by timely defense from the Jayettes (1-9, 0-4) but in the end had simply too much firepower to contain.
Nice defensive plays by outfielders Kathryn West and Kennedy Tunink, from shortstop Lydia Olejniczak and a caught stealing from catcher Peyton Tunink helped keep the guests in check in the early innings.
Unfortunately, a two-out error in the second led to four unearned runs as the guests grabbed an early lead. They added a run in the third before breaking through in the fifth with nine tallies to set up the mercy rule.
A lead-off walk to Olejniczak and an error that allowed Molly Lutmer to reach first in the second inning were the only two times a Jayette reached base as Hoekstra finished with a seven-strikeout no-hitter.
Kennedy Preston had a home run, two singles, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the visitors. Aubrey Furnal did her part, hitting a single and a double and scoring twice to also serve as a spark.
Jayna Kenney started for Perry and went 4-1/3 frames. She surrendered 13 runs (nine earned) on 15 hits while striking out two. Maci Tunink yielded a run on a hit while recording the final two outs.
Perry is at Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday before hosting Ballard Thursday.
