
OSCEOLA — Woodward-Granger managed to produce all of two hits Thursday — singles from Spencer Hanson and Marcus McConahay.
However, seven walks and a few defensive miscues from host Clarke allowed the Hawks to extend their winning streak to seven games with a 6-3 non-conference win.
Brady Aunspach walked three times and Hanson twice, with each scoring once. McConahay stepped on the plate twice, with Matt Buch and Matt Rhodes also scoring. Buck had two RBIs and Rhodes one in the victory.
Brandon Worley gained the win after throwing 3-2/3 innings. He yielded two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out two. Cole Theison tossed 2-1/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while Rhodes pitched one frame. Theisen and Rhodes each struck out three.
W-G host the Hawk Classic Saturday. Madrid faces Davenport West at 10:30 a.m. with West to face W-G at 1 p.m. Madrid will meet Saydel at 3:30 p.m., with Saydel playing Newton at 6 p.m. while W-G and Newton square off in the late 8:30 p.m. game. All start times are approximate.
