Additional details emerged Monday afternoon about a burglary that was reported about 10:45 p.m. Saturday in 800 block of First Avenue in Perry.
The incident began, according to the Perry Police Department report, when a caller reported “two males were trying to break into their residence. One was at the back door,” the caller said, and “the other at the front.”
One of the suspects was described as an African-American male with dreadlocks and dressed all in black. The other was “described as wearing a red shirt with glasses on.”
According to the police report, the caller said “she and her sibling were home alone while her parents went to the store, and she called her parents, who advised it wasn’t them.”
Officers of the Perry Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office responded and began to investigate the reported house breaking.
In the course of the investigation, another call was received by the Perry Police Department from a caller who said “there was a male crouching down behind a blue suburban.” The caller reported seeing “a deputy drive by and thought it was suspicious someone was hiding.”
Law enforcement expanded its investigation but ultimately concluded no crime occurred.
“There was no burglary,” said a spokesperson for the Perry Police Department Monday morning. “It was just some kids who saw someone and got scared.”
Several readers of ThePerryNews.com commended the vigilance of the children in reporting the suspicious activities of the unknown persons. If you see something, say something, they said.
