A Minburn woman was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign Saturday after she was involved in a two-vehicle collision in the 600 block of First Avenue shortly after noon.
According to a report by the Perry Police Department, Robert Higgins of 1412 First Ave. in Perry was traveling in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck “northbound on First Avenue in the inside lane approaching Center Street” when a 2000 Ford Taurus, “traveling westbound on Center Street” and driven by Bonnie Luellen of 421 Third St. in Minburn, “pulled out in front of” Higgins’ truck.
Higgins’ vehicle struck Luellen’s vehicle “in the left front fender and driver’s door,” according to the report.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries, the report said.
The collision caused the temporary closure of one lane of Iowa Highway 144 while officers of the Perry Police Department sorted out the incident.
Total damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000.
The Perry Police Department and the Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.
