UPDATE: Stabbing victim in ICU after surgery, family says

The man who was stabbed Tuesday night in Redfield is recovering in ICU after emergency surgery, according to a Facebook post by his parents.

The victim, Hunter Rio Randall Keasey, 22, of Dallas Center, received “over 20 units of blood cause of internal bleeding” during the three-hour operation, said the poster, who “didn’t no if he was gonna make it.”

The stabbing occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at 909 First St., an eight-unit apartment house in downtown Redfield.

Tyler Scott Delaney, 21, of Adel was charged with attempted murder in the incident. He is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 21 in Dallas County District Court.

According to court records, a dispute occurred, and Delaney “displayed a knife and stabbed the victim, causing a serious life-threatening injury.”

According to the Facebook post, Keasey “got puncherd lung wer knife went in, another stab wound in bac.”

The crime was “corroborated by several witnesses that were at the scene at the time of the stabbing,” according to court records.

Keasey was transported by ground to Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines after an air ambulance was paged and then disregarded, according to public safety radio traffic.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Redfield First Responders, Redfield Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded.
