Tracy Bess-Thacker, 32, of Woodward was arrested Sunday about 11 p.m. on two counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury.
“We got called there for an intoxicated subject being out of control,” Woodward Police Department Chief Joseph Cox told ThePerryNews.com Monday, “so we responded and found out that the children in fact had minor injuries.”
Cox said two children were found at the residence on Main Street in Woodward, a child 8 to 10 years old and a child about 1 year old.
An investigation involving the Woodward Police Department and the Iowa Department of Human Services is ongoing, he said.
Bess-Thacker was convicted of fourth-degree theft in 2015 after bilking a Utah couple of $200 by using sonograms and other hospital pictures from her previous pregnancy to trick them in a surrogacy scam.
In 2011 Bess-Thacker used 19 different aliases to connect with adoptive parents in multiple states and was found guilty of filing a false report and suborning perjury, according to a Des Moines Register report.
