An Urbandale man was arrested Friday after he allegedly assaulted an Urbandale woman in the home two weeks ago.
Dennis Brandon Joshua Jr., 31, of 4430 142nd St., Urbandale, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident occurred June 29 about 7 a.m. in a residence in the 4400 block of 142nd Street in Urbandale, where Joshua allegedly “threw” the victim “to the floor, shut the apartment door on her, bruised her arms by grabbing her and caused a cut to her lip,” according to court records.
A witness later confirmed to law enforcement the victim’s “red and swollen lip” and noted “how much pain she was in when simply trying to sit,” according to court records.
Joshua is held in the Dallas County on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 23 in Dallas County District Court.
Joshua was convicted of assault with intent to inflict serious injury in 2012 in Story County District Court. He was convicted of assault in 2020 in Polk County District Court.
