An Urbandale man who was arrested in March after allegedly kidnapping an Urbandale woman and concocting a tissue of falsehoods in order to misrepresent himself as a lawyer in a child-custody dispute with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services was arrested again Wednesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with further incidents in April, May and June in which he allegedly

Ryan Van Gorp, 38, of 5518 145th St., Urbandale, was charged with 12 counts of falsifying public documents, eight counts of forgery, five counts of impersonating a public official, 12 counts of tampering with records and one count of false reports to public safety agencies.

In March Van Gorp allegedly kidnapped the woman with whom he shares custody of a child and concocted a tissue of falsehoods in order to misrepresent himself as a lawyer in a child-custody dispute with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.

His more recent trickery involved allegedly faking documents from a bank, mortgage company, district court judge, notary public and others in order to reverse his court-ordered removal from the residence following a 2023 temporary protective order.

Among the numerous fakes, Van Gorp’s most recent fraudulent foray was a June 8 email sent to Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante that purportedly came from the mother of Van Gorp’s child. Two documents were attached to the email.

One of the documents was labeled “Rapes,” and it accused Infante, Dallas County Attorney Matt Schultz and a third person of “sexual abuse, arising to the level of a forcible felony,” according to court records.

The second document was a transcribed conversation labeled “Audio May 29 2025,” and it alleged the mother of Van Gorp’s child was engaged in “trafficking in drugs and delivering them to juveniles,” according to court records.

A later search of Van Gorp’s iPad revealed both documents, with law enforcement deducing that “at no point in time should he have possessed these documents, unless he was the one to send the email,” according to court records.

A warrant for Van Gorp’s arrest was ordered and served Aug. 8 in Dallas County District Court. Van Gorp was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 2 in Dallas County District Court.

Van Gorp was arrested in Urbandale April 30 on charges of third-degree kidnapping, falsifying public documents, three counts of harassment of a public official or employee and three counts of impersonating a public official. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court.
