Aaron Lee Cardino, 36, of Urbandale was arrested Saturday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and violation of a no-contact order.

An Urbandale man who is facing domestic abuse assault charges from October was arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting the same victim again.

Aaron Lee Cardino, 36, of 8821 Hickman Road, Urbandale, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and violation of a no-contact order.

The incident began June 13 about 10:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of 142nd Street in Urbandale, where officers of the Urbandale Police Department responded to a 911 caller who reported an unknown problem.

The officers made contact with the female victim, who told the officers that Cardino “had taken her cell phone and ran away,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a large-size bruise on her leg and a smaller one on her back side,” according to court records.

A records check revealed active Polk County arrest warrants for Cardino from October 2022 for two counts of child endangerment, false imprisonment, obstruction of emergency communication, first-offense domestic abuse assault-display or use weapon and domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air blood.

Officers returned June 17 to the 142nd Street residence, intending to serve the October arrest warrants to Cardino, whom they “eventually found” where he was “hiding in one of the closets inside the apartment,” according to court records.

Cardino was released June 18 from the Polk County Jail on a pretrial release agreement.

A warrant for Cardino’s arrest was ordered June 20 in Dallas County District Court and served July 1. Cardino is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $6,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 12 in Dallas County District Court.
