Scott Jeffrey Tarson, 54, of Urbandale was arrested Aug. 31 on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault and obstruction of emergency communications.

An Urbandale man was charged with assault after a domestic dispute with his wife of 30 years.

Scott Jeffrey Tarson, 54, of 15811 Ridgemont Dr., Urbandale, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident began about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 15800 block of Ridgemont Drive, where officers of the Urbandale Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the female victim, who told the officers that she and Tarson “got into a verbal argument” and when she told Tarson that she was going to call 911, Tarson allegedly “made two steps towards her and attempted to grab her cell phone,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Tarson “ripped the victim’s phone from her hand” after “putting his body weight on top of her,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a small cut on her left hand,” according to court records.

Tarson was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. Tarson pleaded not guilty at his Sept. 20 arraignment in Dallas County District Court. His case is scheduled to go to trial Nov. 6.
