A Van Meter man did not go peacefully Monday when he was arrested on a Dallas County warrant by officers of the Van Meter Police Department.

Luke Miller Jennings, 44, of 204 Second Ave., Van Meter, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation on an original charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and was also charged with third-degree harassment, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

The incident began Monday morning, according to court records, when officers of the Van Meter Police Department responded to reports that Jennings was “screaming profanity” at about 8:15 a.m. outside a residence in the 400 block of Grant Street and “shouting profanity” at about 10 a.m. outside a residence in the 200 block of Pleasant Street.

The officers made contact with Jennings, who allegedly “knowingly resisted or obstructed” the officers “by trying to kick” an officer, according to court records.

Jennings is held without bond in the Dallas County Jail. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Aug. 20 in Dallas County District Court.

Jennings was convicted of harassment by communication in 2012 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of first-degree harassment in 2015 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of third-degree harassment in 2024 in Dallas County District Court.
