
VAN METER — Host Van Meter swept a WCAC doubleheader with Panorama Thursday, winning, 14-0, in game one and 33-1 in game two.
The 33 runs in four innings came on 22 hits and 14 walks. Van Meter scored four times in the first inning, 13 times in second and 12 times in the third with a four-run fourth inning the final assault.
Anthony Lowman had a game to remember for the Bulldogs. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five in collecting the easy win on the hill. Along the way he finished 5-for-5 with two doubles, seven RBIs, six runs scored and two bases stolen from his lead-off spot in the lineup.
Sam Thompson scored five times, with Connor Guess 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs for the victors.
Mitch Pomeroy yielded three hits and fanned two in picking up the five-inning win in the first game.
Guess, Carson Rhodes and Drew Gordon each hit a double, with the trio driving in three runs apiece.
