Perry senior Sid Vancil joined elite company recently by being named Academic All-State by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The stringent requires include being a senior who competes in at least one event, as a senior, at the state track meet. Honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 and must have a 28 or higher on their ACT.
Vancil competed in both the 400 and 800 at the state meet last week. She was 14th in the former in 1 minute, 1.23 seconds and 16th in the later in 2:21.58. Both clockings were lifetime bests, and both were the fastest by a Jayette in their respective distance since Jessica Nichols won state titles in both in 2010.
