Boone dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in recording a 41-0 win over Perry at Dewey Field Friday in Class 3A District 2 play. The win was the eighth in the last nine games against the Bluejays for the Toreadors.

The guests held only a 7-0 lead after one quarter but used three three touchdowns in the second frame to open a 27-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Boone finished with 409 yards on total offense (277 rushing and 132 passing) on 54 snaps, with Perry limited to just 92 total yards (39 on the ground and 53 through the air) on 40 offensive plays.

Perry (2-2, 0-2) returns to action Friday with a visit to DC-G (3-1, 2-0). The Mustangs were 16-14 winners over visiting Ballard last week, scoring late in the game and then intercepting a Bomber pass with just under a minute remaining to secure the victory.

The teams last met in 2011, with Perry winning, in Grimes, 24-21 in overtime. Marco Velasco’s 37-yard field goal, followed a Drew Niebuhr interception in the end zone, secured the extra-time victory.

1.) Linebacker Mark Campos (28) fills the gap to stop Eli Johnson for no gain.

2.) Brandon Juarez (15) makes an interception and returns the ball five yards.

3.) Reece Dunlap (18) pulls in Adan Medina’s (5) pass in the flat and heads down the turf for a 14-yard gain, with a Janier Puente (27) block helping to clear the way.

4.) Medina (5) runs between the blocks of Dunlap (18) and Ethan McFarland (51) and receives a block from Puente (27) to help create a gain of 15 yards.

5.) Puente (27) breaks into the backfield to drag down a Boone runner for a five-yard loss.
