The Gilbert offense piled up 603 yards and dominated time of possession in spoiling Homecoming for Perry, 38-14, last Friday.

The Tigers rushed for 443 yards and passed for 160 more while running 73 offensive plays. Tiger quarterback Steven Lawrence was everything as advertised, torching the Jays for 226 yards on 19 runs while hitting 11-of-24 passes for 160 yards and one touchdown while being intercepted once. Running back Cody Dvorak carried 21 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns.

Perry had just 38 offensive snaps, which produced 137 passing yards and 89 yards on the ground. The Blueays have totaled over 100 rushing yards just five times in their past 20 games and have not had a 100-yard rusher since week seven of the 2014 season.

Perry will head north to face Webster City (5-1, 3-1) Friday. The Lynx fell, 31-25, to host Gilbert to open district play, but since then have whipped Greene County (49-6), Ballard (35-7) and DC-G (31-10).

Video highlights appear courtesy of offensive coordinator Matt Hardy.

1.) Adan Medina (5) takes a hand off from Alexis Garrido (7) and heads to what looks like a big hole on the right side. However, Medina sees a linebacker spying the hole and decides to cut back left, then back against the grain again, to rumble for a nice gain.

2.) With the rusher closing in, Alexis Garrido (7) bravely stays in the pocket long enough for Reece Dunlap (18) to break free on a crossing route behind the linebackers on this second quarter play. Dunlap runs past a would-be tackler, cuts up the sideline, and races 66 yards for a touchdown. Adan Medina (5) and Brandon Kenyon (6) help keep any pursuit from coming near the speedy junior wide out.

3.) Mark Campos (28) runs outside, receives a block from Grant Eklund (82) and flattens a would-be tackler on his way to a nice gain of 16 yards.

4.) A mishap in the Gilbert backfield proves costly as Campos (28) jumps on the loose ball while teammate Nic Fellom (22) closes in on the play.

5.) Left guard Tyler Soll (67) pulls and throws two separate blocks to help Dunlap (18) cut into the end zone for a five-yard score in the third quarter. Right tackle Devon Archer (64) also had a key block to help enable the score.

6.) An initial collapse by the offensive line could have resulted in a big loss, but Dunlap (18) uses his speed and elusiveness to split two defenders, then hits the gas and darts up the field, where a Kevin Lopez (75) block helps turn a possible disaster into a 20-yard gain.

7.) Garrido rolls right and hits Fellom (22) for a 24-yard gain. Janier Puente (27) cuts his route and runs into the pattern, where he collides with Fellom just as the ball arrives. However, Fellom manages to pull in the ball after initially bobbling the pass.
