The Perry Golf and Country Club served as the site for Monday’s Raccoon River Conference cross country meet, with seven teams competing (Carroll does not offer the sport).

Top 10 individual finishers earned All-Conference honors, with Jayette junior Grace Stewart the only Perry harrier to place so high. Stewart crossed in 21 minutes, 35.12 seconds.

Ballard won the girls varsity meet with 25 points, with Winterset second at 62 and ADM third at 96. Carlisle (103), Boone (140), Bondurant-Farrar (147) and Perry (155) completed the field.

Carlisle’s Megan Sievers won with a time of 19:48.42, with Ballard’s Ellie Twedt (20:24.04), Lauren Mathews (20:40.46) and Rachel Wohlgemuth (20:40.74) crossing 2-3-4.

Molly Lutmer was the second fastest Perry runner, finishing 31st in 24:36.56. Julissa Calderon (35th, 25:31.94), Joselyn Carrillo (37th, 25:45.32) and Angela Hernandez (42nd, 27:16.31) also scored for Perry, with McKinley Thompson (28:51.14) and Darian McCord (29:01.54) running for the varsity as well.

Carlisle’s five runners finished 1-4-5-7-8 to easily win the boys varsity meet with 25 points. Bondurant-Farrar (63) was second and Winterset (64) third, with Ballard (93) fourth, ADM (155) fifth, Perry (155) sixth and Boone (180) seventh. ADM won a tiebreaker with Perry for fifth after the sixth Tiger runner crossed 43rd, one spot, and 8.94 seconds, ahead of Perry’s sixth finisher.

J.J. Orput of Carlisle ran away with the individual title with a clocking of 16:35.01. Ballard’s Noah Kohut-Jackson was the runner-up in 17:03.38, with Drake VanBaale of B-F third in 17:15.18.

Zach Thompson was 24th for Perry in 18:50, with Alexis Macias (29th, 19:04.01), Juma Bushiri (30th, 19:10.19), Zach Stewart (35th, 19:24.63) and Mario Cruz (37th, 19:26.18). Dane McCarty (20:43.67) and Eduardo Sanchez (21:46.24) also ran for the varsity, but did not have their places used for the team total.

Ballard (1-2-3-4-8) had a winning 18 points in the girls junior varsity race, with Perry fourth in a four-team field with 106 points. Teams must have five runners finish in order to generate an official score. Abby Catus of Ballard was the winner, crossing in 22:08.53.

Kyla Devilbiss (28:48.85), Kat Munoz (29:34.57), Taylor Eppert (31:16.42), Alondra Avila (32:37.95) and Andrea Cortez (32:29.44) ran for Perry, finishing 17-20-22-23-24.

Nate Rowray of Carlisle won the JV boys run in 18:10.52 to help the Wildcats win with 20 points. Perry (181) was sixth in a seven-team event.

Beau Nelson (28th, 21:02), Gabe Ridnour (36th, 21:58.13), Aaron Lockwood (37th, 21:58.97), Jacob Prombo (39th, 22:14.26) and Ben Stika (22:37.2) scored for the JV Jays, with Chase Archer (23:38.46) and Gerardo Gonzalez (24:28.09) also in action. Unlimited entries allowed Miguel Gonzalez (24:58.6), Alex Thompson (25:50.67), Collin Malmberg (26:17.58), Calvin Sass (27:26.41) and Roger Jacobson (27:53.33) to gain valuable experience.

Jaylene Karolus (16:08.64), Ashley Macias (16:23.38) and Rosalyn Ayala (25:59.75) ran for Perry in the girls middle school two-mile race, which was won by Ainsley Erzen of Carlisle in 12:50.85.

Ballard won the girls MS race with 39 points, with Perry the only team not producing an official score. Perry did not score in the boys MS race either, which was won by ADM with 34 points. Nathan Mueller of ADM was the individual winner in 11:32.93.

Running for the Bluejays were Tyler Devilbiss (13:56.78), David Roberts (15:36.96), Tanner Burgin (15:45.34) and Andrew Galindo (16:41.5).
