A Virginia man, arrested in Perry in June on drug charges, will attend a pretrial conference later this month.

Dominique Marcelle Harvey, 30, of 600 Winston Churchill Dr., Hopewell, Virginia, was charged with six counts of controlled substance violation, six counts of failure at affix tax stamp, first-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident began June 8 and 9:45 p.m. near the 130 mile marker of Iowa Highway 141, where officers of the Perry Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2020 Hyundai Veloster observed traveling at 79 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The officers made contact with Harvey, who allegedly “admitted to being in possession of multiple marijuana (cannabidiol cartridges), raw plant marijuana, Adderall, Xanax and psilocybin mushrooms,” according to court records.

A probable-cause search of the vehicle disclosed “461.4 grams of green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana, 158 cannabinoid oil/THC carts were located, 29.3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, packaged in individual pink baggies, 8.4 grams of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), 91 pills of Adderall in clear plastic baggies, 319 pills of Xanax that were in unmarked prescription bottes and a silver baggy containing MDMA Ecstasy,” according to court records.

Harvey told the officers “that there was a firearm in the vehicle,” and on the floorboard of the vehicle was found “a loaded 9mm handgun,” according to court records.

Harvey is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference hearing Sept. 19 in Dallas County District Court.
