The nine-member Dallas County Planning and Zoning Commission seeks volunteer applicants, particularly residents living in the unincorporated area of the county, to fill several four-year appointments on the commission.
Female and rural applicants are strongly encouraged to apply in order to help the county meet state-mandated gender-balance goals for boards and commissions.
Volunteers can apply online. A description of the duties of a Planning and Zoning Commissioner can be found on the Dallas County website. Some of the responsibilities include reviewing preliminary plats, final plats, conditional use permits, zoning changes, zoning ordinance changes and amendments, comprehensive plan changes and amendments and other issues relating to planning and development.
