WOODWARD — Any drama that might have been expected in Tuesday’s WCAC boys cage tilt between West Central Valley and host Woodward-Granger was ended early.

W-G (8-4, 6-4) opened a 20-7 lead after eight minutes of play and stretched their advantage to 40-18 at the break en route to a 68-49 win. The gap swelled to 55-27 after the third quarter as WCV fell to 1-10 overall and 0-9 in WCAC action.

Reese Jamison had 16 points, three assists and four steals for the hosts, with Bryce Achenbach contributing 14 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three thefts.

Noah Hoyt tallied 10 points for W-G, with Sam Peterson and Keith Braunschweig adding seven points apiece, Kaya Bowlsby and Alex Bice six each and Pacey Moats two points.

The Hawks shot well, sinking 26-of-51 from the floor, including a 4-of-10 outing beyond the 3-point arc. The hosts drained 12-of-13 free throws.

W-G hosts Des Moines Christian Friday, with the Hawk boys to play a junior varsity/varsity set against Woodward Academy in the W-G Middle School gym Tuesday.
