W-G, Madrid golfers visit Ogden for coed triangular

OGDEN — The Don Williams course was the site for a WCAC coed triangular between host Ogden and both Woodward-Granger and Madrid.

Ogden won the boys side of the meet with a total of 162 strokes, with W-G finishing at 187 and Madrid at 209. W-G’s 222 won the girls competition, with Ogden shooting a 236. Sophia Harshbarger is the only girls golfer for Madrid, and finished with a round of 66.

The W-G boys were led by a strong 4w from Trey Lettow, with Hunter Pifer playing well and carding a 44. Coby Peters shot 50 and Colby Tague 51 to cap the scoring, with Brandon Worley (54) and August Thielen (61) also playing for the Hawks.

Kayden Kruse paced Ogden with a 41, with Cooper Carson (42), Jake Kathman (43) and Preston Gronseth (44) adding their scores to the team card.

Scoring for Madrid were Logan Wicker (50), Landon Klatt (51), Jacob Loew (53) and Trent Larson (55).

Cierra DeHoet produced a team-low 51 for the W-G girls, with Emily Trewet and Megan Burkhart producing some of their best play of the season, as each turned in cards of 55. Emma Greiner’s 61 completed the scoring for the victors, with Izzy Meier (70) and Natalie Helbling (74) also playing nine holes.

The low score for Ogden was the 51 turned in by Shaylie Johannsen. Libby Stonehocker had a 56, Faith Mohr a 62 and Emma Blair a 67.
