W-G netters compete at ADM tourney

ADEL — Woodward-Granger made their annual appearance at the ADM volleyball tourney Thursday, with the Hawks posting a 1-4 record. The results send their overall record to 3-10 on the season.

The tourney began with a 21-18, 21-19 loss to Atlantic, with W-G then besting host ADM 21-10, 21-16. A 21-18, 21-19 setback to Norwalk followed, with Nevada topping W-G by finals of 21-15, 21-17 and Gilbert winning 21-10, 21-12.

Statistics for W-G do not include the match against Gilbert.

Elly Polich led the way with 27 kills, with Natalie Weaver adding 16 kills and Audrey Simmons seven. Grace Deputy had three kills, Brayten Ashman, Gena Tague and Lindsay Mescher two apiece while Faith Keuhl and Darby Nixon had one each.

Simmons distributed 26 assists, Polich 18 and Weaver five, with Nixon adding four assists and Ashman three. Deputy tallied two assists, with Keuhl, Tague and Mescher all having one.

Nixon and Weaver combined for 25 digs apiece, with Polich making 17, Simmons 17 and Keuhl 16. Tague provided three digs and Ashman two, with Deputy making 2.5 blocks, and Ashman and Tague one each while Polich had one assisted block.

The team (in the four games recorded) served a combined 128-of-143 (89.5 percent) with 16 total aces.

Keuhl was 23-of-23 with four aces and Ashman 24-of-25 with two ace serves while Nixon was 13-13-1. Polich finished 30-35-4 behind the line, Weaver 19-22-3, and SImmons 19-24-2.
