WOOODWARD — The Iowa Girls Coaches Association recently announced that Woodward-Granger senior Julie Pitman was named to their All-State Honorable Mention team for 2017.
Pitman had 213 kills this season while making 56 blocks. She had 37 digs and 12 assists and finished 212-of-248 serving with 52 aces. She was also named to the 2A Central All-District Team.
Pitman is the latest inclusion to a distinguished list of Hawk netters who have earned All-State recognition. She joins former Hawks Olivia McCune, Syd McCune, Maddie Bardole, Haley Manning, Abby Musser and Mary Hansen as W-G players receiving statewide recognition.
W-G finished 25-14 this season and 6-2 in WCAC play. They defeated host and sixth-ranked Tri-Center in the post season before falling to No. 4 St. Albert in the Regional Final.
