W-G spikes Interstate-35 in WCC play

WOODWARD, IA — Woodward-Granger posted a 3-0 sweep over visiting Intersetate-35 in conference action Tuesday. The Hawks (4-11, 2-2) won behind scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 28-26, with the Roadrunners falling to 1-15, 0-4 with the loss.

The hosts honored seniors Tian Turner, Grace Deputy, Emma Klocke, Audrey Simmons, Bella McDivitt, and Lindsay Mescher before the game, with the sextet also having personalized photo banners placed in the gym, where they will remain for the entire school year.

Anna Weaver had 26 assists in the win, with Simmons adding four, McDivitt two and Mescher one. Simmons had 11 kills, Mescher nine, and Deputy five, with Weaver adding four kills, Cadence Klocke three, Emma Klocke two and Cela Hill one.

Libero McDivitt posted a team-best 15 digs, with Emma Klocke having 10 and Mescher nine. Simmons tallied seven digs, Deputy and Weaver six each, Hill five and Cadence Klocke two.

Cadence Klocke had 1.5 blocks at the net and Deputy one, with Emma Klocke having an assisted block.

Weaver served 13-of-16 with four aces, with Mescher 12-12-4. Emma Klocke was 9-11-1 and both Simmons and McKenna Carroll 5-7-1, with Deputy 13-of-15, McDivitt 5-of-7 and Hill 2-of-2.

W-G was 64-of-77 (83 percent) overall with 11 aces.

The Hawks step out of conference and up several classes Thursday with a visit to Ames.
