W-G thinclads compete at WCAC meet

PANORA — The Woodward-Granger track teams found points hard to come by at a competitive WCAC meet Thursday.

Top-rated Panorama won the girls side with 159 points, with Van Meter second at 110 while AC/GC edged Madrid, 99.5-98, for third place. W-G was ninth in the 12-team field with 32 points.

The boys crown was awarded to Madrid, who totaled 148 points. Des Moines Christian was second at 111 and AC/GC third at 69, with W-G’s 27.5 points at the low end of the standings.

Emma Drake was sixth for the W-G girls in the 800 in 2 minutes, 39.55 seconds, with Ava Petersen sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.48.

Olivia Sus cleared four feet, four inches to place sixth in the high jump, with Janae Jones eighth in the discus with a spin of 88’4.

The 4×800 team of Anna Tague, Josie Noland, Drake and Petersen were second in 10:24.08, with Drake, Petersen, Tague and Emma Anderson fourth in the distance medley (4:42.08) while Kayley Dresback, Tague, Noland and Drake finishing fifth in the 4×400 (4:31.1).

The shuttle hurdle unit of Sus, Brayten Ashaman and both Mae and Emma Anderson were sixth in 1:21.46, with Emma Anderson, Alexandria Mehrhoff, Chloe Houge and Dresback crossing seventh in the sprint medley in 2:03.86.

Hogue, Mehrhoff, Emma Anderson and Gena Tague ran the 4×100 in 56.75 while Hogue, Mehrhoff, Tague and Ashman completed the 4×200 in 2:01.06.

Bella Milosevich finished the 400 in 1:15.89, with Darby Nixon running both the 100 (15.24) and 200 (32.32).

Worth Henry was eighth for the Hawk boys in the 400 with a clocking of 57.31, with Kade Polich running the 100 (12.08) and Reese Jamison the 200 (25.7) while Henry competed in both the 110 (18.48) and 400 (1:04.95) hurdles.

Bryce Achenbach placed third in the long jump at 19’3, with Keith Braunschweig tying for sixth in the high jump at 5’6.

Achenbach, Braunschweig, Cody Garland and Cale Pritchett teamed for third place in the distance medley (3:52.59), with Pritchett, Garland, Kaya Bowlsby and Caleb Jones fifth, in 8:48.91, in the 4×800 while the 4×200 quartet of Achenbach, Braunschweig, Pritchett and Logan Roll were sixth in 1:37.18.

Polich, Jamison, Roll and Dylan Bird crossed seventh in the 4×100 (47.5), with seventh place in the 4×400 (3:46.97) going to the team of Achenbach, Braunschweig, Garland and Pritchett.

Also scoring for the W-G boys was the sprint medley quartet of Polich, Roll, Jamison and Bird, who placed eighth in 1:44.2.
