W-G wrestlers win three times Tuesday

LAKE CITY — Woodward-Granger was 3-0 in a wrestling quadrangular hosted by South Central Calhoun Tuesday.

W-G defeated AC/GC, 54-27, and SCC, 45-36, while also claiming a 77-0 win over Baxter, who competed with just four wrestlers. SCC was a 53-29 victor over AC/GC while blanking Baxter, 62-0, with AC/GC besting Baxter by a 60-6 final.

Peyton Nixon (106 pounds), Devan Brown (195) and Cody Fisher (220) all recorded pins against Baxter, with Joel Harney besting his Bolt opponent at 120 pounds with a 15-0 technical fall in 2 minutes, 39 seconds. All other Hawks won by forfeit, save a 113, which W-G left open for a double forfeit.

Fisher was 3-0 overall with two pins and a forfeit to improve to 29-0. He is now 175-10 in his career.

Nixon was 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit, as was Dustin Harney at 152, with Cale Pritchett (170) and Kade Polich (182) both 3-0 with one pin and two forfeits while Tyler Lawrenson (285) was 3-0 with a 9-3 decision and two forfeits.

Brown was 2-1 with two pins, with Tjaden Smeltzer 2-1 with one pin and one forfeit at 126 while both Matthew White (132) and Clay Pehl (160) were 2-1 with two forfeits apiece. Joel Harney was 2-1 overall with the aforementioned tech fall at 120 and one forfeit and one loss at 113.

Finishing 1-2 with wins by forfeit were both Jayden Flugge-Smith (138) and Jayden Dorenkamp (145). W-G did not compete at 120 against AC/GC or SCC.

W-G will join Boone and Winterset at Ballard for a quadrangular Thursday before competing Saturday in the Interstate-35 Invitational.
