WOODWARD — Lopsided wins over AC/GC and East Union offset a loss to Van Meter/Earlham Thursday as the Woodward-Granger wrestlers closed their pre-Christmas schedule with a quadrangular on their own mats.

W-G was a 70-6 winner over AC/GC and a 71-12 victor against East Union, with VM/E claiming a 47-24 win.

Hunter Pierce (106 pounds), Gabe Yingst (160) and Cody Fisher (195) were all 3-0 for the Hawks. Pierce won twice with pins and once by major decision with Yingst recording two pins and receiving a forfeit while Fisher also notched two pins while being handed a forfeit.

Dilynn Lewiston (113) and Cole Carman (145) were both 2-1, with each winning twice by fall, while Ryan Munoz finished 2-1 at 120 pounds with a win by decision and another by technical fall.

One pin and one forfeit allowed both Payton Tague (126) and Cale Pritchett (170) to finish with 2-1 marks, with two forfeits and 2-1 records tallied by Colt Palmer (132), Austin Scharlau (152), Tyler Lawrenson (220) and Dillon Fogarty (285).

The Hawks also collected points when Jay Dorenkamp (138) and Kade Polich (182) each received one forfeit, with both finishing 1-2.

Woodward-Granger will resume action Jan. 6 when they compete in the Winterset Tournament.
