
MARSHALLTOWN — Woodward-Granger’s Cierra DeHoet shot a 49-46–93 in the final day of the Class 1A Girls State Golf Tourney at the American Legion course. Combined with an opening day 49-47–96 she finished at 93-96–189, placing 28th in an 83-member field.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The junior played with Nicole Zeimert of Easton Valley (92-86–178), Tori Galles of Remsen-St. Mary’s (96-91–187) and Riley Mayer of Ft. Dodge St. Edmond (97-90–187).
New London’s Casey Noble (77-76–153) was the state champion, with Courtney Olson of Clayton Ridge (80-79–159) second while Jaden Schweinefus of South Winnesheik cut five strokes to shoot 82-77–159) to place third.
Iowa Valley was two strokes better than New London Wednesday to force a tie atop the team standings at 740. The tiebreaker used was the fifth player score, which Iowa Valley won, 104-110, to snatch the title. BCLUW made up six strokes to climb from fourth place and finish third overall.
DeHoet will be a senior next year as she will look to repeat reaching the final tourney. She is coached by David Combs.
