A Waukee man was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting a fellow high school student in the lunchroom.
Armand Jeffrey Maurice Shaw, 18, of 836 N.W. Trowbridge Court, Waukee, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 1 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of N.W. 10th Street, where Shaw allegedly assaulted a fellow student at Northwest High School in Waukee, according to court records.
A “confrontation” between Shaw and the victim allegedly led Shaw “to leave his seat, walk around the lunch table and begin punching” the victim “in the face and body multiple times” before school staff intervened, according to court records.
The victim “sustained lacerations above and below his left eye, and there was a substantial amount of blood on his face,” according to court records.
Shaw is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 14 in Dallas County District Court.
