A Waukee man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly strangling his fiancee and refusing to let her leave and drunk driving.

Jeremy Joseph Towsley, 46, of 335 N.E. Newhaven Dr., Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, false imprisonment and first-offense OWI.

The incident began about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 300 block of Newhaven Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers she allegedly “was slammed onto the kitchen table and repeatedly told she couldn’t leave by Towsely,” according to court records.

Towsley then allegedly “grabbed” the victim “and threw her over the back of the couch and onto the cushions, proceeding to straddle her, strangling her at the neck with both hands — squeezing to stop her from breathing and using his weight to push her into the couch,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with Towsley, whom they found “slumped over the wheel, with the vehicle running in his driveway,” according to court records. Towsley allegedly “admitted to having several ‘shots’ prior” and said he had “driven the vehicle prior to parking in his driveway.”

Towsley is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $3,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 11 in Dallas County District Court.

Towsley was arrested in Urbandale in September on a charge of first-offense OWI. The case is pending in Polk County District Court.
