
A Waukee man was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting a Waukee woman in the home and then driving drunk.
Cody Alan Jon Bailey, 35, of 835 S.E. Booth Ave., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and first-offense OWI.
The incident began about 8 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 800 block of S.E. Booth Avenue, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Bailey allegedly assaulted her.
The officers observed on the victim “red marks” on her face and “signs of swelling,” according to court records.
The officers later located Bailey near the intersection of Marshall Drive and S.E. Meadowlark Lane, where a traffic stop was initiated on a 2020 Chrysler Voyager LXI, operated by Bailey.
Bailey presented with the “odor of alcohol emanating” from his person, according to court records, and he “also showed signs of poor balance, slurred speech” and “poor balance.”
He declined to perform field sobriety tests of submit to a preliminary breath test, according to court records.
Bailey was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 4 in Dallas County District Court.
Bailey was arrested earlier this month in Waukee on a charge of first-offense OWI. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault and first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2021 in Dallas County District Court.
