Ernest Raymond Henderson Jr., 41, of Waukee was arrested Saturday on charges of second-offense domestic abuse assault and eluding.

A Waukee man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly assaulting a Waukee woman in the home and trying to outrun police.

Ernest Raymond Henderson Jr., 41, of 1830 S.E. Waddell Way, Waukee, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and eluding.

The incident began about shortly before midnight Friday at a residence in the 1800 block of Waddell Way, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who described Henderson’s alleged “grabbing her when he aggressively charged towards her in the hallway/doorway” of the residence, according to court records.

The officers observed n the victim “bruising on her upper left arm,” according to court records.

Henderson left the residence prior to the arrival of law enforcement, and police later located and “attempted a stop on” Henderson’s vehicle on Grand Prairie Parkway, but the vehicle “continued south” even after “officers initiated emergency lights and then sirens,” according to court records.

The vehicle eventually stopped on Esker Ridge Drive, where Henderson presented with “an alcohol odor and bloodshot and watery eyes,” according to court records.

Henderson “performed well” on field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test returned a result below the legal limit.

Henderson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 4 in Dallas County District Court.

Henderson was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2024 in Dallas County District Court.
