A Waukee man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a Waukee woman in the home.
Mason Lee Harestad, 37, of 261 N.W. Greenway Pl., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 10:15 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 200 block of N.W. Greenway Place, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Harestad allegedly “wrestled her to the ground” and began “hitting her across the face with a closed fist, pulling her hair and holding her down with his hand around her neck,” according to court records.
The officers observed the victim’s “face and neck area were reddened,” and “visible hair was coming out of her scalp,” according to court records.
Harestad was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 29 in Dallas County District Court.
