Daniel Thadius Sherman, 25, of Waukee was arrested Friday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Waukee man was arrested Friday night after allegedly slamming a Waukee woman to the ground and throttling her.

Daniel Thadius Sherman, 25, of 37 N.W. Converge Circle, Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 9 p.m. Friday at a residence on Converge Circe, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Sherman allegedly “took her phone away” and “grabbed her by her hair and threw her to the ground,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Sherman then allegedly “put her in a choke hold and dragged her to their bedroom by her neck,” according to court records.

The officers observed “a lump on the back of the victim’s head that was approximately the size of a golf ball” and “was a result of being thrown to the ground and her head hitting the
ground,” according to court records.

Sherman is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
