A Waukee man was arrested Saturday after allegedly strangling a Waukee woman during a fight in the home.
Devin Leeland Sledge, 21, of 286 S.E. Booth Ave., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 12:15 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 200 block of S.E. Booth Avenue, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Sledge allegedly “walked up behind him and ‘jumped’ onto the victim’s back” and “began choking him,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “red marks near their neck area and scratch marks near the neck area as well,” according to court records.
Sledge is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 23 in Dallas County District Court.
