A Waukee man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a Waukee woman in the home.
Christopher Lee Byrd Jr., 24, of 1110 S.E. Olson Dr., Waukee, was charged with two counts of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 7 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1100 block of S.E. Olson Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Byrd allegedly “grabbed the victim around her neck with both of his hands and threw the victim down to the ground,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a scratch on the left side of her chin,” and she complained of neck pain, according to court records.
In the course of investigating Thursday night’s incident, the officers received photographic evidence of a prior assault that occurred about 10:45 a.m. on June 30 at the same residence.
The victim told the officers that in the June incident, Byrd allegedly “threw a titanium ring at the victim, which struck her in the left eye and resulted in a black eye,” according to court records.
Byrd is held is the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 2 in Dallas County District Court.
