A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday on a charge of sexual abuse in connection with an incident that occurred in 2011 or 2012 in West Des Moines.
Roger Kay Gilliland, 56, of 255 Waukee Ave., Waukee, was charged with second-degree sexual abuse.
The female victim was 4 or 5 years old at the time of the alleged abuse, according to court records.
Gilliland and the child were “residing together,” and he was “in position of a guarding,” according to court records.
A warrant for Gilliland’s arrest was ordered Tuesday in Dallas County District Court and served Thursday. Gilliland is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Gilliland was arrested in Polk County in 1995 on charges of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of child endangerment. The sexual abuse charge was dismissed, and he was convicted of two counts of child endangerment in 1996 in Polk County District Court.
