Rikki Mae Southard, 36, of Waukee was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Waukee woman was arrested Wednesday after allegedly assaulting another Waukee woman whom she assaulted in July.

Rikki Mae Southard, 36, of 1333 S.E. University Ave., Waukee, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of S.E. University Avenue, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a fight.

The officers made contact with the female victim, who said “she was lying on her bed” when Southard “came into her room and got on top of her” and “started hitting the victim and choking her,” according to court records.

The alleged assault continued in the kitchen, where Southard “began to throw/push the kitchen chairs over and towards the victim,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “skin tears on her left forearm, approximately 2 inches long, right shin, approximately a quarter size, right calf, approximately a quarter size and left shin, approximately a quarter size,” as well as “a golf-ball-sized bruise on her chest” and “a 2 inch by 1 inch bruise on her right forearm,” according to court records.

Southard told the officers that the victim has the cuts and bruises because “she weights 80 pounds,” according to court records.

Southard is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 10 in Dallas County District Court.

Southard was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness on Oct. 27, 2022, in Dallas County District Court.
