A Waukee woman was arrested Friday morning after trying to flee the scene of an OWI investigation.
Nadine Shyanne Renne Allen, 21, of 305 N.E. Kingwood, Waukee, was charged with second-offense OWI, driving while license denied or revoked and interference with official acts.
The incident began about 5:30 a.m. Friday on the eastbound on ramp of U.S. Interstate 80 at Jordan Creek Parkway, where an officer of the West Des Moines Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 Mazda MX6.
According to court records, the officer made contact with the driver, Allen, who allegedly “exhibited watery eyes, slow and slurred speech” and “smelled of an alcoholic beverage.”
Allen allegedly “showed clues of intoxication during the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests,” and a DataMaster breath test returned a result of .266%.
During the course of the investigation, Allen allegedly “ran away from” the officer, and a “short foot pursuit” ensued before Allen “was caught,” according to court records.
Allen is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 31 in Dallas County District Court.
Allen was convicted of first-offense OWI in December in Polk County District Court.
