Sharing the proud moment with retiring Fareway Manager Glen Weber, left, were his wife, Teresa Weber, son, Matt Weber, daughter-in-law, Jenna Weber, and grandchildren, Lucas, 9, Kaylee, 7, and Kensie, 2.

With his family at his side, Glen Weber was honored Thursday for his 42 years of service to Fareway Stores Inc.

“Glen’s career with Fareway has been outstanding,” said Fareway President Fred Greiner. “He’s done a fantastic job down here in Perry and at the other stores he’s worked at — I believe, Iowa Falls and Estherville and then to Boone and then down to Perry.”

Greiner presented Weber with a wall plaque acknowledging his long period of “faithful and dedicated service” to the company. He also gave Weber and his wife, Teresa Weber, a mantel clock made of Waterford crystal as a token of the company’s esteem for the Weber family.

Along with Teresa Weber, the retiring manager was joined by his son, Matt Weber, himself the manager of a Fareway store in Pleasant Hill, Matt’s wife, Jenna Weber, and their three children, Lucas, 9, Kaylee, 7, and Kensie, 2.

Fareway Chief Economic Officer Reynolds Cramer joked with Weber about their professional football rivalry, with Weber a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and Cramer a staunch Minnesota Vikings supporter.

Teresa Weber said she and her husband are ready for a period of “transition.” She has worked for many years as a nurse at the Dallas County Hospital and still does on-call duty.

The Webers were high school sweethearts at Independence High School in Independence, Iowa.
