A string of burglaries in northern Guthrie County in the early hours of Sunday left a trail of destruction in three small businesses. The victims were Tojo’s tavern in Jamaica, Collision Concepts in Bagley and Zane’s Dawg House in Bayard.
Dawn Dailey-Shepherd of Carroll, owner of Zane’s Dawg House, wrote on Facebook Sunday, “If anyone knows anything about the people or person who broke into the bar this morning at 4:50 a.m., please contact us or the Guthrie County Sheriff’s department. They not only caused substantial damage and stole things from us but several other community businesses.”
Tonya Storesund of Collision Concepts made a similar Facebook appeal Sunday: “Yes, Collision Concepts along with Zane’s Dawg House and Tojo’s got broken into early this morning. This vehicle belonging to Spangler Automotive was taken from our shop along with a few tools, cash and our checkbook. If you know any information, please let our local authorities know or PM Quinten or I or the other business. We have never had anything like this happen in our 15 years of business.”

Dailey-Shepherd sketched out what she thinks was the likely sequence of events.
“We think we were hit last that morning,” she said. “He entered our building at 4:50 a.m. That’s what our camera showed. He broke out the front window of the bar and destroyed us. He ran from the front to the back of my restaurant. He dumped all my cabinets, dumped all my drawers, stole a computer and three tablets that we use for our credit card thing, a printer, beer and food, and then he just dumped everything all over.”
Tommy Jo Scheuermann of Tojo’s did not reply to repeated inquiries Monday, but Dailey-Shepherd shared her impression of the damages to the popular Jamaica restaurant and bar.
“From what I understand from Tommy at Tojo’s,” she said, “they actually broke beer bottles and threw them across the bar and down their toilets. Tojo’s had a lot more viciousness with the broken bottles. We think they had a lot more people in there that had a little more time.”
Dailey-Shepherd described security camera footage showing two vehicles.
“We saw two cars pull up in front of the bar,” she said. “One was the Spangler car that was stolen, and the other was the white car on my Facebook. They talked for just a couple of minutes, and then that white car headed west past the bank, and the car that was stolen went around the alley, and he parked behind my bar. And for 25 minutes he hauled stuff out my backdoor. He broke the front window and left out the back.”
“I’m sick about it,” Dailey-Shepherd said.
